Hey, I’m Huy.

I’m Huy, a photographer based in Mannheim and originally from Dresden. My work takes me to football pitches, race tracks, concert halls and events — places where things are constantly moving and where the moments worth capturing usually don’t announce themselves beforehand.

That unpredictability is one of the things I enjoy most about photography. I like observing what is happening around me, anticipating what might happen next and finding perspectives that make a moment feel just as strong in an image as it did while being there. Sometimes that means following the action at full speed, sometimes it means waiting quietly for a gesture, an expression or a detail that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Sport, motorsport, concerts and events may look completely different from one another, but for me they have a lot in common: energy, atmosphere and moments that cannot simply be recreated. I don’t just want to document what happened. I want to create photographs that communicate what it felt like to be there — whether that is the intensity of a match, the speed of a race, the concentration of a musician or the atmosphere of an entire event.

I’m also quite detail-oriented when it comes to my work. I enjoy experimenting with perspectives, light and composition, but I always want the result to feel natural to the situation rather than forced for the camera. A strong assignment for me is not defined by one spectacular image, but by a complete set of photographs that tells the story consistently and gives my clients visuals they can actually use — from press and editorial coverage to social media, websites and marketing.

Outside photography, I’m just as interested in the things surrounding it: motorsport, music, travelling, aviation, hiking and spending time in the gym. My music taste is somewhere between Taylor Swift, R&B, soul, electronic music and Phonk, and every now and then I swap Lightroom for a piano.

I’m curious by nature, probably carry more camera gear than I actually need, and I rarely go somewhere without noticing the light first.

That’s probably the easiest way to describe me: always observing, always curious, and usually with a camera somewhere nearby.
